Seam-Pop Resistant Hot Melt Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive with Low Misting and Optical Clarity for Carbonated Soft Drink Ring Sleeve Labels

A hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesive (HMPSA) designed for roll-fed shrink sleeve labels on carbonated soft drink PET bottles. CO₂ pressure and temperature changes cause PET bottles to expand and contract, which can lead to label flagging, seam pop-up, or slippage with conventional adhesives. Based on a styrene-block-copolymer (SBC) or polyolefin (PO) system, this product offers low melt viscosity and excellent initial tack for precise pick-up and overlap bonding on high-speed labelers.

Its core design is "flexible anchoring": the adhesive maintains strong bond strength to PET, OPS, and PVC label films while providing enough elastic deformation to follow bottle expansion and contraction—keeping labels intact through shelf life and chilling. It also delivers good alkali-wash removability for PET bottle-to-bottle recycling.

1. Resists bottle expansion, outstanding seam-pop resistance
Balanced flexibility and cohesion tolerate internal pressure-induced bottle bulging. Overlap seams remain stable in accelerated tests (38°C to ambient), eliminating label "bursting" or slippage. Superior wetting on PET bottle surfaces ensures reliable bonding even with condensation or low bottle temperatures.

2. High-speed machine compatibility, low misting and stringing
Low viscosity and thermal stability at ~150°C suit mainstream hot melt guns and roller/nozzle systems (Nordson, Robatech, etc.). Anti-stringing performance reduces adhesive fly-off and equipment contamination, cutting downtime and boosting line efficiency.

3. Optical clarity and appearance retention
Light-colored, impurity-free adhesive minimizes visible "glue spots" or haze on clear and light-colored label films—preserving brand visual purity on shelf.

The material can be applied by slot or roll coating applicators. Suggested operation temperature is 150 – 160⁰C for both, depending on machines, substrates, and plant conditions.

The intact packing material can be stored indoor for 24 months, from the date of manufacture, in its original packages under dry and clean conditions at ambient temperature below 35⁰C and above 5⁰C. Direct sunlight and moisture condensation must be prevented.

Do not mix with other adhesives to prevent contamination. The material is applied hot. Appropriate personal protective clothing and eye protection are strongly recommended to prevent burns. Adequate ventilation is suggested to remove any vapors or fumes generated. Rotate stocks and using the oldest stock first.
